I'm pleased as punch to introduce our fans to Michaela Anne, a soulful singer/songwriter who quickly became one of our favorite artists... and we don't just mean on the BCB sountrack.

We met Michaela via Myspace and were instantly magnetized by her soulful songwriting and powerful voice. Joined by bandmates Raphael McGregor, James Preston and Aaron Shafer-Haiss, Michaela prominently appears in "Episode Two" of the web series where she performs two tracks from her album "To Know Where" including the title track and also "Taken Away".
Illustrating her depth as a songwriter and intuitive grasp of tone, Michaela composed an original song featured in “Episode One”. Entitled "Lift Me Up" the hauntingly beautiful country/bluegrass track resonates with the series theme of pursuing one's dreams and the perils for those who don't.
Michaela's debut album To Know Where, recorded by Jesse Lauter (The Low Anthem, Elvis Perkins), Diko Shoturma and Scott Kettner was self-released in April 5 of 2011. To Know Where is a compilation of original songs inspired by her upbringing as a nomadic child of the U.S. Military. The Record describes it as "Nine songs with uncommon clarity, vision and execution for someone just beginning her career....This is an album that never overstays it's welcome" and Common Folk Music describes the collection as "soul-searching songs that have a way of touching the spirit....emotional and angelic vocal delivery".
Michaela has toured extensively since the release of her record throughout the north and southeast as well as through the west coast of the country with her duo partner Annie Lynch of Annie & the Beekeepers. She has had the privilege of sharing the stage with notable musicians Michael Daves, Lydia Loveless, Diamond Doves, Frontier Ruckus, Miss Tess & the Bon Ton Parade, Shane Pruitt Band, The Calamity Janes and The Woes to name a few. She will be on tour with her trio in February as well as performing at the Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis, TN.
